~ Scientific Laboratory Supplies brings sustainability focus to industry-leading trade show ~
The UK’s largest independent laboratory equipment supplier, Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), is set to showcase its commitment to sustainability and customer service at Lab Innovations 2024, held at the NEC, Birmingham, on October 30 and 31. Visitors will be able to explore a wide range of sustainable solutions with dedicated sustainability manager Lucy Moore, and will have the chance to win a £500 Amazon voucher, all at stand K80.
Sustainability manager Lucy Moore will be on hand throughout the event to advise on how labs can adopt more sustainable practices and demonstrate how SLS’s product range can contribute to this effort. From energy-efficient instruments to sustainable consumables, SLS offers a diverse portfolio that meets the evolving needs of modern laboratories.
One standout product is the SLS Lab Pro PURA-Q Water Purifier, which has earned multiple sustainability attributes. During production, measures were taken to reduce water usage, leading to a sustainable product manufacturing award. Additionally, the water purifier is produced in the UK using plastic-free packaging, contributing to sustainable distribution efforts.
Through a combined strategy of supply and education, SLS is committed to helping laboratories make more environmentally conscious decisions. All products on display will feature clear sustainability attributes, allowing visitors to make informed choices that align with their sustainability goals.
These attributes are based on five stages of the product lifecycle; raw materials, manufacturing, packaging and distribution, use in the lab and disposal. Each attribute uses primary data from suppliers, ensuring that laboratories can adopt greener practices with confidence.
“Our goal is to support laboratories as they strive to mitigate their environmental impact without compromising on performance,” explained Joshua Chapman, marketing director at SLS. “From reducing energy consumption to cutting down on waste, we are uniquely positioned to offer solutions that are both efficient and sustainable.”
To further highlight SLS’s industry partnerships, the SLS pavilion will feature leading suppliers such as A&D, Azenta and Memmert, with Eppendorf headlining the stand. Visitors can explore these partnerships by visiting the supplier pods around the pavilion and collecting stamps for a chance to win a £500 Amazon voucher in the prize draw. For some interactive fun, attendees can also compete in the “Whack-a-Molecule” game, with the top scorer winning a £100 Amazon voucher.
Attendees will also learn how SLS’s recent move to its new Fairham premises has enhanced its product distribution capacity. Featuring integrated, automated warehouse management systems and state-of-the-art conveyor belt logistics systems, the distributor can now service 2,500 orders per day.
