Senior executive to guide UWB semiconductor leader ARIA SENSING in its growth and product roadmap, including its mass-market launch of Hydrogen, the world’s first Quad-Channel UWB SoC.
ARIA SENSING Srl. is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Christophe DOUCET as a Strategic Advisor and Board Member with immediate effect.
With over thirty years of experience in leading semiconductor strategy, marketing, and commercial operations, Jean-Christophe brings a wealth of expertise to ARIA SENSING. His career spans C-level executive and senior management roles, as well as directorships on the boards of various semiconductor and technology companies. He has overseen global teams at firms ranging from startups to large-scale organizations. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Novelda AS, a Norwegian company specializing in UWB sensing technology, with which ARIA SENSING had established a technology partnership.
“I was highly impressed by the ARIA SENSING team, particularly their innovative Hydrogen system-on-chip (SoC),” said Jean-Christophe upon his appointment. “The company has developed a product using a cutting-edge process node that delivers unprecedented performance, functionality, and integration. Creating a chip of this complexity typically takes years and requires much larger teams in traditional semiconductor companies.”
The Hydrogen SoC was initially announced during the Electronica trade fair in November 2024; it is already undergoing evaluation by numerous world-class players and OEMs, particularly in the smart home and automotive sectors. As the world’s first UWB radar, Hydrogen enables scalable 1D, 2D, and 3D detection in a single chip, with unparalleled radar waveform capabilities. Featuring 8 distinct channels (4 transmit and 4 receive), it achieves resolution on par with legacy millimeter-wave solutions, offering significant advantages: dramatically lower power consumption, the ability to penetrate materials (a key benefit for automotive applications like Child Presence Detection), and reduced costs.
Jean-Christophe continued, “With adjustable bandwidth up to 1.8GHz, its 8 channels, and a dual RISC-V core, ARIA SENSING’s Hydrogen sets a new benchmark in the industry. I am honored to contribute to the company’s growth and future success.”
Alessio Cacciatori, CEO of ARIA SENSING, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Jean-Christophe to the Board of Directors and look forward to collaborating with him as we embark on our next phase of growth. JC’s deep market knowledge and connections with key industry players will be invaluable as we deploy our solutions, forge strategic partnerships, and accelerate our growth.”
ARIA SENSING has been a key player in the UWB market, providing radar modules based on third-party silicon for several years. The introduction of its proprietary Hydrogen chip, combined with Mr. Doucet’s appointment, underscores ARIA SENSING’s leadership in the UWB sensing space and now established its clear position as a fabless semiconductor company. While the UWB market remains in its growth phase across various verticals, and with the market seeing multiple consolidations, ARIA SENSING is emerging as a rising star in the UWB landscape.
