~ Powerdown220 expands its voltage stabilisation, PFC and harmonics range ~
Voltage optimisation (VO) specialist Powerdown220 is further enhancing its voltage stabilisation, power factor correction (PFC) and harmonics product offering by expanding its team’s expertise and focus in these areas. The move represents a significant milestone for the Cheshire-based company, which is now hoping to make an even bigger impact on the power quality market.
Having rapidly built its reputation as the UK’s leading supplier of voltage optimisation units (by numbers of units supplied), Powerdown220 is expanding its voltage stabilisation offering. While both VO and stabilisation help a site reduce its voltage levels to achieve energy savings, stabilisation also carries the additional benefit of improving power quality.
In addition, the company is expanding its expertise and remit in power factor correction (PFC) and harmonics. This expansion retains the company’s focus on helping clients achieve financial savings on their energy bills, but improving power quality is now an additional selling point.
“We have focused on building up our expertise in voltage optimisation, but stabilisation has always been something that we wanted to broaden our scope in,” explained James Goodby, director at Powerdown220. “There’s a strong overlap between the two technologies and being able to offer both means we can advise clients on how best to meet their goals, whether that is lowering energy bills, reducing their carbon footprint or improving power quality.”
Installing a PFC unit can help a company avoid paying the reactive power charge, thereby helping deliver an energy saving, while the addition of harmonics to the company’s product offering marks a clear move toward helping clients improve power quality.
“In recent years, we’ve had a number of clients with power factor, stabilisation and harmonics issues, so we felt the need to grow our resources in these areas,” added Goodby. “Offering both together means we can save our clients significant sums of installation costs. “With VO, we were helping companies lower their energy bills, but having stabilisation and harmonics means we can also help improve power quality issues for our clients.
The expansion into these markets comes following Powerdown220’s rapid growth in recent years. In 2021, the company completed the largest VO rollout in UK history for pub and restaurant chain Mitchells & Butler’s, installing VO units at over 1,100 UK sites. Increased turnover from large projects of this kind have allowed the company to strategically invest in new areas.
