Rotor, part of the WEG Group, will exhibit at SMM Hamburg — the leading international maritime trade fair, held on 3 to 6 September 2024. Rotor will showcase its latest innovations in motor technology, focusing on solutions designed to enhance efficiency, reliability and performance in marine applications. The company will exhibit in Hall B7, stand 418.

As a pioneer in the maritime industry, Rotor has a long-standing reputation for delivering advanced motor solutions for rigorous marine environments. At this year’s SMM Hamburg, Rotor will present two of its flagship products, including a water jacket cooled induction motor and the versatile brake motor.

Designed specifically for propulsion, thrusters and pumps, Rotor’s water jacket cooled motors are engineered to deliver exceptional performance in demanding maritime conditions. Covering a power range from 160kW to 2000kW, this motor range offers a significant advantage over traditional air-cooled squirrel cage induction motors and provide higher output in the same frame size.

The innovative internal cooling system of these motors ensures reduced noise levels, making it an ideal choice for applications where noise reduction is critical. Typical installations include on cruise ships and luxury yachts.

At SMM 2024, Rotor will also showcase its state-of-the-art brake motor, designed to deliver precise control and unmatched reliability in demanding marine applications. Certified by all major marine societies, the brake motor stands out for its flexible design, offering customisation with a range of suppliers for brakes, encoders and freewheels.

Additionally, Rotor’s extensive inventory ensures these brake motors are available on short lead times, facilitating rapid replacements and minimising downtime for critical marine operations.

“Rotor offers a comprehensive range of products for marine applications,” explained Daniel Lotter, sales manager at Rotor. “While we cannot demonstrate every product at SMM in Hamburg, our team of dedicated marine motor experts will be available at the stand to discuss our full range of industry solutions. We have been distinguishing ourselves in the marine market for over 60 years and we’re looking forward to connecting with customers, partners and potential users at SMM in September.”

SMM Hamburg marks the first trade fair for Rotor since the brand was acquired by WEG in 2024. Following the acquisition, Rotor will continue to lead the way in supplying electric motors for marine environments, while also gaining the support of the WEG group globally.

“Rotor’s team and products are equally impressive,” added Marek Lukaszczyk, marketing manager for Europe and Middle East at WEG. “Now, the team has a global corporation like WEG behind them, enabling them to continue to offer tailor-made solutions with a world-class service.”

Other products for the marine industry include Rotor’s RN-series motors for marine auxiliary applications such as pumps, fans and compressors. The 23RN and LOD propulsion motor series are also available, which are primarily used for propulsion and thruster applications. In addition, the company has developed the Rotor eco motor, a product launched two years ago for efficiency in cranes, winches, davits and port machinery.

Rotor invites all attendees to visit their booth at SMM Hamburg 2024 to discuss these motor solutions. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to engage with Rotor’s experts and learn more about how their products can meet the evolving needs of the maritime industry.
