The world of 3D optical measurement sensor combined with a collaborative robot may seem difficult to understand or make. Bruker Alicona have a wide range of experience in designing, manufacturing, and supporting these devices with many systems installed globally.

They are based on the R25 optical sensor produced by Bruker Alicona, this sensor allows the measurement of both surface finish and geometric form. These are combined with a 6-axis collaborative robot arm to deliver repeatable high-resolution measurements in a production environment. Because the platform is both large and portable it can be used with parts placed on the built in mounting plate or be taken to large components or adjacent to machine tools for in machine measurements.

Users do not require any prior knowledge of Metrology  making handling, programming, and executing measurement simple. They are very easy to use and can be free standing or used in conjunction with a machine tool for automated measurement.

The measurement software used is the well-established MetMax suite of tools suitable for measuring surface finish and geometric form.

Optimax Imaging and Inspection are the sole UK partner for sales and support of the range of measurement systems from Bruker Alicona.
